New Merch’ Monday: Ebisu Felateia Duffel

blue duffel stud bag

da-bu-dee-da-bu-di

You know those products that just seem to have everything you could ask it to have? The Ebisu Felateia Duffel happens to be one of those products.

With soft-core studs, pleats (good for bags, not for pants), three gorgeously subdued color options, a matte finish, and some serious heft, this bag IS A GO.

The studs are adorable, because they’re really big, but they’re round and flat. I actually am hesitant to call them studs, because they’re so not-punky. Nevertheless, they are metal, add some toughness and dimension to the bag, and I shall call them studs.

Pleating is a great way to add texture to a bag without adding pattern, and these pleats aren’t. messing. around. In combination with the cool buckle detailing on the side, these kinds of details balance the size of the bag well, making it seem less duffel-y.

Duffel-y.

But the amount the Ebisu Felateia can hold… totally duffel-y. This bag is perfectly huge. Works great as an everyday bag, but also has a secret life of weekending.

The three color options are to die for, with robin’s egg blue, rustic brown, and creamy off-white, and the matte leatherette is smile-inducingly soft.

Weekly Blogosphere Roundup

Apple Doesn’t Fall Far. De la Renta’s son has recently debuted a small line for Mango, called MDLR, his initials. What do you think?

Stay Classy. When it comes to what I carry in my bag, I’m not very particular. If it fits, I’ll put it in there. That’s why I carry a duffel bag cleverly disguised as a handbag. Derek Blasberg wants to remind us, however, of what we should avoid schlepping.

If Ya Can’t Beat ‘Em. So, I guess, if you can’t carry your stalker material and tabloid mags with you, might as well put them in your backpacouch. Awesommme.

Not for Actual Walking. If high heels are without actual heels, do they still count? Perhaps we should re-name them to, you know, “Torture Devices.” Looks like this type of silliness is here to stay for a while.

Before Beautiful, Dirty, Rich. I love before-they-were-famous pictures of celebrities. It’s fun to look back at their old life and see how they’ve transformed. Not many, however, look as though they’ve literally become a completely different person quite like Stefani Germanotta.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Okay, Sara Jessica Parker isn’t actually my mom, but they do look shockingly similar. Flip through the transformation SJP’s made over the years.

Celeb Style: Adriana Lima’s Animals Print Clutch

Cavalli+s+New+Boutique+VCsVj0VC8q2l

Point blank -I love Adriana Lima. No joke, she has always been my favorite Victoria’s Secret model; I find her and her model-y life to be interesting, glamorous and just downright amazing. Most people would kill to have the chance to even merely resemble Adriana. How can you not be intrigued by that?

That being said, there is a way you can mimic her style. Our Giraffe Print Evening Bag is the newest addition to our animal print handbag line. At first glance, I actually thought this bag resembled that print of a leopard or cheetah, possibly because I was distracted by the black patent leatherette accents, along with the polished silver hardware that adds some glam to this little number. A long silver chain handle is also included with your purchase ($25.00) , turning this bag from a clutch to an evening shoulder bag with a flip of the wrist.Adriana Lima Animals Print Clutch Bag

Would You Let Your Child Carry a $850 Handbag?

This question seems utterly random, but hang tight, my catalyst is quite specific.

You’ve surely heard of Suri Cruise, the spawn daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who’s likeness is often splashed throughout tabloids. Suri, who “hates jeans and favors dresses,” was supposedly spotted carrying around a $850 Ferragamo purse in recent weeks.

katie holmes suri cruise carries $850 handbagWhen I was young, I toted a handbag. — a tiny The Little Mermaid baguette, probably purchased from the toy section at Kroger. It was shaped like a sea shell and was nothing short of magnificant. I placed fruit snacks and loose change and my mom’s old lipstick inside. (I realize that you’re probably envious of early appitude for cool right now. Please try to push through it and continue reading.)

The fruit snacks and lipstick melted all over the bag’s interior when I left the bag inside of a hot car. This happened repeadedly (with different melty, messy mediums). However it’s not surprising, because though I was strikingly stylish, I was still a CHILD.

Now, it’s plausible that US Weekly spotted Suri once in a bag that probably in actuality belongs to her mom. We all know that tabloids’ credibility is lacking. Or maybe it belongs to her. Who knows? Either way if I were Suri, there would have been a lipsticky, fruit-snacky mess adhered to that Italian leather within the first ten minutes of swinging it over my tiny shoulder.

What do you think? Would you endorse your daughter/son/niece/nephew’s carrying of such a costly accoutrement?

Ruffles are a trend that will stick around for spring. This trend is a fun way to add some romantic whimsy to your wardrobe, but ruffles can be a bit tricky to pull off if you have figure flaws you would like to hide. However, a great way to pull off the trend is by sourcing fun ruffle accessories. Check out some of our favorite figure-flattering ruffle pieces:

Melissa Ruffle Scarf – This scarf is the perfect way to add a little romance to your wardrobe with the whimsical ruffles and a sheer, airy feel. You can pair this scarf with everything from a casual weekend outfit to a dressed-up cubicle-to-cocktail look.

New Merch Monday: Eva Messenger Bag

The Eva Messenger Bag proves to be one more item with which to top off your spring fashion list. I’m not typically one to jump on the quasi-Bohemian bandwagon and wear cross body bags on the regular, but when you combine this bag’s thin shape with its impeccable storage possibilities (perfect for folders and books), it’s an offer that even I can’t pass up.

For starters, Eva’s neutral taupe color and golden hardware makes choosing its ensemble-counterparts easy, which is always a plus. Its hue steers clear of boring though; the bag offers a pretty floral print interior as a special, for-your-eyes-only bonus. It’s essentially a smaller version of a traditional messenger, making it inherently easy to carry. Check and Check.
tn_images--T--DH0120-TaupeFront---jpg_w381_h381

Part of the reason I haven’t always been a fan of messenger bags is because you have to wrap them around your body in that awkward diagonal way, which, let’s face it, just doesn’t always feel natural. However, the Eva Messenger Bag’s long adjustable strap allows you to wear the bag at a length and position perfect for your person .

It’s a rare occurrence when I’ll change my purse preferences, so this bag definitely deserves some extra attention. In looking at the side photo of the Eva Messenger Bag, it becomes clear just how thin this carrier really is. The deceiving frontward appearance is a little crazy, I know. Throw frequently handled items in the two zippered pockets and two open top pockets. This makes shopping or errand-running a cinch. Check all those reasons-to-love off of your list as well.

Now, don’t you think it’s about time you hop on the Bohemian bandwagon and get yourself an Eva Messenger Bag? Check!

Weekly Blogosphere Roundup

It’s happened. The tables have turned. The tide is high. The bottle is spinned.

Spring is here! (Yes, I do realize none of those metaphors really apply. It’s fine.)

I now finally feel comfortable wearing bright colors and ma’ legs are almost ready to see the sun - a sun of which I’d begun to doubt the existence, as we had a though winter in the Midwest. What do you do to celebrate the season? I usually begin an intense quest for a bathsuit I won’t buy until mid-summer when it’s on sale. I also buy outwear. Stores are practically giving those coats away, people. Jump on it. Let’s see what the bloggers were talking about this week.

Dye Hard. I’ve said it before. I’m a sucker for a DIY. So quite predicably, I think this post is pretty dope. Bachman’s Sparrow uses bleach to create a tye-dye effect on a pair of basic grey leggings. The final product looks like clouds, i.e. super cool.

Find Love. So it’s a new season, but you’re broke as a joke and the whole new-season-new-wardrobe thing is about as real as a true fix the Toyota recall. Solution? Refresh the pieces you already have. Kelley of Blackdog Finds offers “10 Creative Ways Revive Less-Than-Loved Clothing.” Great list, friends.

I Made It. Fashion and art undoubtedly go hand in hand, but not always obviously. Poetic & Chic’s recent post draws an obvious and fascinating connection between current runway pieces and the Arts & Crafts Movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

By the way, we have a whole buncha springy new bags in stock. Celebrate with sun.

Be fierce!

Celeb Style: Vanessa Minillo’s Quilted Handbag

Where has Vanessa Minillo been these days? There was a time when I, and tweens everywhere, saw this chick on the regular via TRL (R.I.P.). Now it’s just the sporadic gossip magazine fashion shot. Oh well, I’ll take it. And if “it” is anything like the pic above, I’ll take two.

Here, Miss Minillo, does the celeb version of office casual with a grey v-neck sweater, white button-down, big ol’ shades and a classic quilted bag. This look is a chinch to dulplicate. Everyone has the first three aforementioned items in some form, so all you need is the classy lassy handbag. Happy to help. Meet the Sami Quilted Handbag. This best seller is one of my personal favorites (I have it in red), and I assure you it will quickly become one of yours too.
