We all know that your handbag can make or break an outfit. But did you know that a handbag can also make or break the way you look. When choosing a handbag, it is important to be sure that it is proportional to your body. Depending on your handbag’s shape, size or where it falls you could add or shed pounds from your look. A great thing the bag with the right proportion and placement can do is draw attention to your assets and take attention off of places you wouldn’t want someone to give attention.
For people with short frames, you’ll want a long, lanky bag to provide height. Oversized totes are going to make you look shorter!
Tall and thin frames, you will want something opposite your figure and slouchy such as Hobo style bags.
For larger frames, don’t carry itty bitty handbags. These will end up making you look larger. Medium to larger sized handbags are going to suit you best.
Trying to cover up those hips or a tummy? Choose a bag that will fall at the upper torso, just under your arm. If your handbag is falling around your middle, that is where eyes will be drawn.
General rule of thumb: Always choose a handbag opposite your body type. (Like if you’re a stick figure, go for a rounded handbag.)
Most importantly of all though, it’s important that you feel confident while wearing your handbag. Try it on. Look at it in a full length mirror. Make sure that your handbag is right for you. When you are confident with your handbag, you will then become more confident in your whole outfit and this will result in you being a more confident person. More important than looking good is feeling good, so take my advice and wear those handbags with pride!
