Outfit Inspiration for Your Summer Weekend Style

There are many reasons we love summer, but there are just some seasonal activities that are more special than others. You know the ones — you prepare for weeks, diligently planning what to wear and what to bring. To give you some inspiration, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite looks for special summer outings, styled them for less, and paired them with the perfect Handbag Heaven accessory.

Look ‘em over, grab your gals, and head to the mall. You’ve got some serious shopping to do!

Day at the Pool

A day at the pool with the girls is the perfect way to work on your golden-bronze tan! Sport a classic white bikini and an embellished cover-up or sarong for a fun, pool-ready look. She might not be carrying one in this pic, but we would bet that this lovely lady (for Real Houswives fans — yep, that’s Gretchen!) has a beach bag like this Striped Canvas Traveler Tote somewhere nearby. Where else is she keeping her phone, towel, and sunscreen?!

Weekend at the Lake

Weekends at the lake make for memories that last forever, and surely pictures will be taken! While you want to be stylish, you still want to be casual, too. We love this look for its comfy canvas tennis shoes, floral print, and denim skirt. Add a cutesy little bag like this Heart Shaped Crossbody Bag, and you’re ready to spend some time on the dock!

Family Cookout

Dressed up but still casual, this look is absolutely adorable and perfect for a summery outdoor event. High-waisted shorts with a simple, flowing blouse make room for fun accessories and embellished sandals. We can’t see her bag very well, but this Mollie Messenger Bag would suit this look well, don’t you think?

Summer Concert

Jumping around and rocking to the sounds coming from the stage, you are likely to get hot, sweaty, stepped on, and more. The goal is to dress cool and comfy, but still be on trend — after all, you never know who you’ll meet! You can’t go wrong with a graphic tank and cutoffs, and bold accessories like studs and this Jennifer Patent Mini Satchel are uber cute. A crossbody is the only way to go in this instance!

Trip to the Beach

Oooh! This look is very South Beach, with a polished vibe that is perfect for any beach vacay this summer. Maxis are very in this season, so pair a bright one with a simple top, heeled sandals, and an animal print clutch before heading out to dinner. The Kara Leopard Envelope Clutch is nearly identical!

Shopping Trip in the City

This summer, a shopping trip in the city is likely in your future. Black and white stripes are huge in this summer’s style file, and we love them worn casually. Pair a simple striped tee with shorts, wedge sandals, and an oversized bag to store all of your credit cards and store receipts! This Alexandra Doctor Satchel should get the job done.

What’s your favorite weekend style?

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Late spring and early summer mark the beginning of wedding season. While we may not be the ones getting married, it’s always fun to get dolled up and watch loved ones say their vows! Once you send in your RSVP, the time comes to make a decision on what you will wear. Whether it’s a family affair or a throwback full of old high school and college acquaintances, you always want to look your best — and you can never go wrong with a dress! Here’s a roundup of great looks for [someone else’s] big day!

Stripes and Maxis

Maxis are ideal for weddings because they are comfy, cute, and provide extra coverage for those who aren’t interested in showing leg. Black and white stripes are big this season, as well as the hi-lo dress.

Feminine Nudes

We never recommend wearing white or ivory to a wedding (that’s reserved for the bride only!), but nude isn’t entirely off the table! If you are looking for more feminine touches, we suggest nude or blush tones. Avoid loud colors and patterns at weddings to ensure that the the bride is the leading lady.

Sparkles

Add some pizazz to your wedding guest attire with a sparkly number. When choosing a dress, be sure to consider the venue for the wedding. Is it indoor, outdoor, both? This should determine whether to go casual or fancy-fancy. Sparkles can play up (or play down) a look, as evidenced above!

Classy

Classy Black Dresscoral dress to wear to a wedding

If you identify yourself with a more classic style personality, fitted dresses, cap sleeves, pencil skirts, and peplum styles are the way to go. Think “little black dress” on this one, which can be dressed up or dressed down. Simplistic dresses with fine jewelry and gorgeous heels are a must for summer wedding season!

Skirts

skirt to wear to a weddingfloral skirt wedding attire

Skirts are wedding-appropriate, too! Be sure not to go too short, but just long enough to show that you’re a lady. Mix and match prints, pair with flowing blouses, and accessorize with belts and heels or embellished flats for a look that is both romantic and fun!

Don’t forget to pack up a cute little clutch- and make sure you don’t forget anything important. Aren’t sure what to fit into such a small space? We’ve got it covered with this post on nuptial essentials!

5 Rainy Day Looks From Bloggers We Love

You know the saying: April showers bring May flowers! As much as we l-o-v-e the sunshine, we can appreciate a rainy day now and again — just not too often! Not only does it give us an excuse to lounge around inside watching Lifetime movies, but we also have the opportunity to put together fun, rainy day looks for when we make a mid-afternoon Starbucks run.

As we often do, we turned to some of our favorite style bloggers for some rainy day inspiration. So take a look and check the forecast — spring is officially here!

red polka dot rain boots

We love the mix of classy and casual with this stylish look. From the waist up we see an outfit perfect for the office, but the fun red and white polka dot wellies add a quirky touch to the perfectly-polished, all black style. And the tan raincoat and black handbag (much like this Nola top handle bag) tie it all together!

red rain boots and dress

We know we can always count on Atlantic-Pacific for super trendy and glam looks. This printed dress is perfect for a rainy day and adds a little extra coverage with a belted cardigan and trench coat. The look is further accentuated with red rainboots, big pearls, and oversized sunglasses. Bold prints are very in-style this season, so keep a lookout for something unique!

rainy day outfit

Who said your rainy day look has to incorporate rain boots? Any boots will do, really! This style incorporates a number of layers, which is perfect for the chill of early spring. Find a fun skirt and wear it with a flowy top, jacket, tights, ankle boots, and a leather handbag. This Larissa shoulder bag closely resembles the one sported above, don’t you think?

rainy day look with green rain boots

No fashion faux pas here! Three haute trends for Spring 2013 include emerald, black & white, and stripes. She’s got all the bases covered! Completely in love with anything black-and-white striped, we are left swooning over her chiffon blouse, jeggings, and emerald wellies. And we love the style and versatility of her bag! This Lucille buckle satchel is our similar pick.

rain boots and oversized sweater

Definitely a style for late spring, we love the rocker edge of this outfit! This lovely lady paired shorts and an oversized black and white cardigan with a leather moto jacket (leather is another hot trend this season!), boot socks, and rain boots. Looks like she’s ready to take on any downpour with some sass!

The Perfect Pair: Spring’s Prettiest Polishes & Purses

When you think of accessories, what comes to mind first? When we think of accessories, we dream of chic, colorful handbags (big shocker, right?!) and perfectly manicured nails. During the Spring 2013 runway shows, we noticed models sporting trends that are beyond-perfect for the seasonal nail scene, and we thought we’d share our observations.

Check out these top five shades, each perfectly paired with one of our fabulous bags!

Nude, Nude, Nude!

Spring Nails & Handbags: Nude

Ever consider going bare? Nude nails were huge on the runway, but this doesn’t mean you have to go naked! Opt for a glossy, nude shade, much like NARS Candy Darling. And how fun is this Hailey Studded Leopard Bag? Right on trend with studs and animal print embellishments, this bag is a perfect addition to your collection this spring!

Walk on the Dark Side

Spring Nails & Handbags: Darker Hues

While lighter shades typically come to mind in the spring, this season is posing to be a year of darker colors — with emerald at the top of the spectrum! From dark greens like this Butter London to black and slate gray, darker shades are one nail trend to give a try this spring. And this sleek Cheryl Structured Bag offers a perfect mix of emerald shading, color blocking, and metallic touches for the working gal!

(Psst…Are you loving emerald as much as us this season? Be sure to shop The Color of the Year in our special handbag collection!)

Miss Metallic

Spring Nails & Handbags: Miss Metallic

Whether you opt for a set of all 10, just one accent nail per hand, or embellishments such as metallic tips or stripes, the metallic nail is another fun trend to be aware of for spring. From sparkly silvers to bronze and pale gold like Essie’s Good as Gold, this is one trend to get excited about! And don’t you just love this Samantha Quilted Handbag? So magnifique.

Bright Like A Diamond

Spring Nails & Handbags: Bright Lady

When the weather begins to warm up, you can always count on brights to make a return! This season, brights of all colors are a go, from blues and greens to punchy reds, much like this OPI My Chihuahua Bites. Smaller handbags and mini satchels are also on-trend this season. We just adore this Jennifer Patent Mini Satchel - the perfect purse for a spring getaway!

White Haute

Spring Nails & Handbags: White Haute

Well this is one we haven’t seen in awhile! Bright white polish is making a comeback, and we have to say that we’re happy for its return! Whether you choose a flat shade or something with a little sparkle, this cheery color is perfect for spring. And this Elizabeth Top Handle Tote is a perfect match! With its two-tone exterior and fun, metallic embellishments, this is one bag that we’re dying to keep for ourselves!

Witchy Women: Accessory Inspiration from the Land of Oz

[Spoiler Alert!]

Always and forever a classic in our eyes, we are thrilled about the release of Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to our favorite childhood movie, The Wizard of Oz. With a superb cast (well hello, James Franco) and mind-blowing special effects, this movie has us excited about more than just the storyline. We’re also compelled by the style of the beautiful leading ladies!

Check out these wickedly (and not-so-wickedly) witch-inspired accessories, and be sure to snag a few of your favorites for spring. Now the only question is: Are you a good witch — or a bad witch?

Glinda

Glinda the Good Witch styleGlinda the Good Witch accessories

Always beautiful, Michelle Williams is ultra-stunning as Glinda the Good Witch! With a palette mostly comprised of silver, gold, and white, we love the feminine sparkles as an update to the original witch’s garb. If this look is for you, opt for items with sequins, glitter, and lace accents. Metallic flats, sparkly headbands, and feminine jewelry are ideal for making you a witchy woman. And don’t you just adore the glittery exterior of this Party Girl Clutch? We think it’s Glinda-approved!

Snag the rest of these accessories here!

Theodora

Theodora from Oz accessoriesTheodora from Oz accessories

Mila Kunis looks delightfully evil as the Wicked Witch of the West! With subtle and seductive touches, we love the fresh take on a western style. To accomplish this look, hunt down accessories in black and red — especially ruby! Floppy hats are perfect for warmer weather, knee-high boots are great for transitioning from winter to spring, and doesn’t this high-waisted belt remind you of a saddle?! Complete the look with an Oz-inspired handbag like this Scarlett Exotic Buckle Satchel.

Snag the rest of these accessories here!

Evanora

Evanora from Oz accessoriesEvanora from Oz accessories

We are completely infatuated with the glitz and glamour of Rachel Weisz’s character as the Wicked Witch of the East! Elegant and completely in style with this season’s emerald shade, this lady-like witch adds wicked wondefulness with black, sparkles, and feathers. This lace cuff bracelet, rose cameo necklace, and feather capelet are perfectly inspired! If she were to carry a purse, we think she would choose something like the Elaine Quilted Bag, don’t you?

The Oscars’ Best Dressed (and Tressed!) Ladies

The Oscar fashion gods have spoken, and 2013 was one helluvah year for glamorous dresses! Here are our top 5 picks (that’s right, we narrowed them wayyyy down!) for best dressed and best tressed at the 85th Academy Awards — because let’s be real, if the gals on the red carpet were having a bad hair day, their dresses just weren’t shining as bright, either.

Stacy Keibler

Although she might have gone as George Clooney’s coveted arm candy, Stacy Keiber killed it in a Great Gatsby-inspired Naeem Khan gown (the same designer who outfitted the First Lady that evening)! The draped embellishments, high neckline, cinched waist, and ultra-revealing back accentuated her gorgeous body, and her loosley-pinned retro waves made her our best dressed of the night!

Amy Adams

Amy Adams was the sweetest confection in this gorgeously-tiered Oscar de la Renta. The pale blue gown complimented her pale skin and red hair to fairytale perfection! We love how Amy kept it simple with drop earrings, a cuff, and a parted-down-the-middle updo. So chic — we’ll have this look for dessert, please!

Jennifer Lawrence

The 22-year-old Best Actress winner definitely looked the part in Christian Dior! We adored Jennifer’s classic upwsept ‘do paired with diamond earrings, a delicate back necklace, and silver clutch (we have a similar one here). This pale pink, dramatic fit-and-flair gown hugged Jennifer’s enviable curves — and equally enviable tiny waist — like a glove, and the ladylike color was reminiscent of bridal couture. Well, it was certainly her day, so we say cheers to the happy couple — Oscar and his lady!

Jessica Chastain

Holy movie star status! Jessica’s look was every bit the Old Hollywood tribute — the sparkly, fitted, beaded gown; the long, undone waves; the delicate jewels; the perfectly-lined red lips; and a megawatt smile. We’re head-over-heels for Jessica’s acting chops, too, which certainly helped her case. :)

Charlize Theron

Dear Charlize, can we please be as effortlessly cool as you? Wearing a white-hot Christian Dior peplum gown and sporting a fabulously chic pixie, Charlize is that popular girl in school that guys adore and women envy beyond measure. Her dress and hair combo scream modern sophistication. *Sigh.*

Who made your best dressed and tressed list Sunday night?
