What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Late spring and early summer mark the beginning of wedding season. While we may not be the ones getting married, it’s always fun to get dolled up and watch loved ones say their vows! Once you send in your RSVP, the time comes to make a decision on what you will wear. Whether it’s a family affair or a throwback full of old high school and college acquaintances, you always want to look your best — and you can never go wrong with a dress! Here’s a roundup of great looks for [someone else’s] big day!

Stripes and Maxis

Maxis are ideal for weddings because they are comfy, cute, and provide extra coverage for those who aren’t interested in showing leg. Black and white stripes are big this season, as well as the hi-lo dress.

Feminine Nudes

We never recommend wearing white or ivory to a wedding (that’s reserved for the bride only!), but nude isn’t entirely off the table! If you are looking for more feminine touches, we suggest nude or blush tones. Avoid loud colors and patterns at weddings to ensure that the the bride is the leading lady.

Sparkles

Add some pizazz to your wedding guest attire with a sparkly number. When choosing a dress, be sure to consider the venue for the wedding. Is it indoor, outdoor, both? This should determine whether to go casual or fancy-fancy. Sparkles can play up (or play down) a look, as evidenced above!

Classy

If you identify yourself with a more classic style personality, fitted dresses, cap sleeves, pencil skirts, and peplum styles are the way to go. Think “little black dress” on this one, which can be dressed up or dressed down. Simplistic dresses with fine jewelry and gorgeous heels are a must for summer wedding season!

Skirts

Skirts are wedding-appropriate, too! Be sure not to go too short, but just long enough to show that you’re a lady. Mix and match prints, pair with flowing blouses, and accessorize with belts and heels or embellished flats for a look that is both romantic and fun!

Don’t forget to pack up a cute little clutch- and make sure you don’t forget anything important. Aren’t sure what to fit into such a small space? We’ve got it covered with this post on nuptial essentials!
