Iconic Handbags

Throughout history, certain women have made their mark in fashion and will forever stand out as style icons. While times and trends change, we still see influences from these lovely ladies in today’s latest styles — handbags included! Let’s take a look at some of our hottest bags, inspired by some of our favorite style icons.

Audrey Hepburn

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn: Caroline Shoulder Bag

Audrey’s style brings to mind little black dresses, ballet flats, and petal pushers. As far as handbags go, we envision her carrying something like the Caroline Shoulder Bag with a classic structured shape. Can’t you just see this bag accessorized with black oversized sunglasses and a perfectly styled chignon?

Grace Kelly

Inspired by Grace Kelly: Lauren Ladylike Satchel

A film actress and Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly was a darling with talent! Often accessorizing with details like florals, pearls, and lace, it’s easy to describe her style as feminine. This Lauren Ladylike Satchel would be the perfect accompaniment to her swing skirts and white gloves. We love how the gold buckle detail adds a touch of vintage sophistication!

Brigitte Bardot

Inspired by Brigitte Bardot: Isabelle Rhinestone Stud Satchel

Beach bunny Brigitte Bardot is know for a number of things –– acting, singing, modeling, and even animal welfare activism –– but she’s most widely recognized as a style and beauty icon. Frequently photographed in beachwear (with her famously teased tresses and winged eyeliner), Brigitte’s street style was playfully edgy. We think this Isabelle Rhinestone Stud Satchel would be an ideal bag for the lovely Miss Bardot!

Marilyn Monroe

Inspired by Marilyn Monroe: Isabelle Sequin Clutch

Probably the most well-known of all the style icons, Marilyn Monroe was a beauty that continues to inspire women to be themselves and enjoy life as it comes. Whether on the silver screen or making public appearances, her flirty style always made a lasting impression. We can totally see the Blonde Bombshell carrying the Isabella Sequin Clutch along with her form-fitting dresses, can’t you?

Coco Chanel

Inspired by Coco Chanel: Paige Quilted Shoulder Bag

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Founder of an iconic fashion house, Coco leaves behind her words of stylish wisdom and plenty of swoon-worthy clothing and accessories forever linked with her name. Of course, we think she would have loved our Paige Quilted Shoulder Bag with its quilted exterior and practical size that’s suited perfectly for her modest-yet-trendy style.

Elizabeth Taylor

Arielle Faux Fur & Sequin Clutch

When you think of Elizabeth Taylor, it’s hard not to think about diamonds! Actress, designer, and entrepreneur, she lived a life of glitz and excitement. While her style staples included neck scarves, empire waist skirts, and statement necklaces, we think she would have just loved this Arielle Faux Fur & Sequin Clutch!

Witchy Women: Accessory Inspiration from the Land of Oz

[Spoiler Alert!]

Always and forever a classic in our eyes, we are thrilled about the release of Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to our favorite childhood movie, The Wizard of Oz. With a superb cast (well hello, James Franco) and mind-blowing special effects, this movie has us excited about more than just the storyline. We’re also compelled by the style of the beautiful leading ladies!

Check out these wickedly (and not-so-wickedly) witch-inspired accessories, and be sure to snag a few of your favorites for spring. Now the only question is: Are you a good witch — or a bad witch?

Glinda

Glinda the Good Witch styleGlinda the Good Witch accessories

Always beautiful, Michelle Williams is ultra-stunning as Glinda the Good Witch! With a palette mostly comprised of silver, gold, and white, we love the feminine sparkles as an update to the original witch’s garb. If this look is for you, opt for items with sequins, glitter, and lace accents. Metallic flats, sparkly headbands, and feminine jewelry are ideal for making you a witchy woman. And don’t you just adore the glittery exterior of this Party Girl Clutch? We think it’s Glinda-approved!

Theodora

Mila Kunis looks delightfully evil as the Wicked Witch of the West! With subtle and seductive touches, we love the fresh take on a western style. To accomplish this look, hunt down accessories in black and red — especially ruby! Floppy hats are perfect for warmer weather, knee-high boots are great for transitioning from winter to spring, and doesn’t this high-waisted belt remind you of a saddle?! Complete the look with an Oz-inspired handbag like this Scarlett Exotic Buckle Satchel.

Evanora

We are completely infatuated with the glitz and glamour of Rachel Weisz’s character as the Wicked Witch of the East! Elegant and completely in style with this season’s emerald shade, this lady-like witch adds wicked wondefulness with black, sparkles, and feathers. This lace cuff bracelet, rose cameo necklace, and feather capelet are perfectly inspired! If she were to carry a purse, we think she would choose something like the Elaine Quilted Bag, don’t you?

The Oscars’ Best Dressed (and Tressed!) Ladies

The Oscar fashion gods have spoken, and 2013 was one helluvah year for glamorous dresses! Here are our top 5 picks (that’s right, we narrowed them wayyyy down!) for best dressed and best tressed at the 85th Academy Awards — because let’s be real, if the gals on the red carpet were having a bad hair day, their dresses just weren’t shining as bright, either.

Stacy Keibler

Although she might have gone as George Clooney’s coveted arm candy, Stacy Keiber killed it in a Great Gatsby-inspired Naeem Khan gown (the same designer who outfitted the First Lady that evening)! The draped embellishments, high neckline, cinched waist, and ultra-revealing back accentuated her gorgeous body, and her loosley-pinned retro waves made her our best dressed of the night!

Amy Adams

Amy Adams was the sweetest confection in this gorgeously-tiered Oscar de la Renta. The pale blue gown complimented her pale skin and red hair to fairytale perfection! We love how Amy kept it simple with drop earrings, a cuff, and a parted-down-the-middle updo. So chic — we’ll have this look for dessert, please!

Jennifer Lawrence

The 22-year-old Best Actress winner definitely looked the part in Christian Dior! We adored Jennifer’s classic upwsept ‘do paired with diamond earrings, a delicate back necklace, and silver clutch (we have a similar one here). This pale pink, dramatic fit-and-flair gown hugged Jennifer’s enviable curves — and equally enviable tiny waist — like a glove, and the ladylike color was reminiscent of bridal couture. Well, it was certainly her day, so we say cheers to the happy couple — Oscar and his lady!

Jessica Chastain

Holy movie star status! Jessica’s look was every bit the Old Hollywood tribute — the sparkly, fitted, beaded gown; the long, undone waves; the delicate jewels; the perfectly-lined red lips; and a megawatt smile. We’re head-over-heels for Jessica’s acting chops, too, which certainly helped her case. :)

Charlize Theron

Dear Charlize, can we please be as effortlessly cool as you? Wearing a white-hot Christian Dior peplum gown and sporting a fabulously chic pixie, Charlize is that popular girl in school that guys adore and women envy beyond measure. Her dress and hair combo scream modern sophistication. *Sigh.*

Spring Trend Preview: Celebrity Looks For Less

Spring is coming, and we’re slowly starting to see celebrities switch over from darker winter garb to lighter spring attire. With our eye on some of our favorite A-listers, we’ve pulled together a few looks for less for your Spring 2013 wardrobe. Time to start taking notes and plan a shopping trip!

Snag her style here!

It’s not always about the article itself, but more about a print, pattern, or color. In this case, the emerald green of Jennifer’s lovely dress is taking center stage. As the 2013 Color of the Year, emerald can be worn in a variety of shades (depending on your preferences or skin tone), ranging from dark to light. We just love this pleated beauty, which the Hunger Games star pairs with a pair of black strappy heels. Have a special occasion coming up? Opt for a green, jewel-toned frock like Jennifer’s!

Shay Mitchell look for less

Get the look here!

Brights are always a breath of fresh air when the spring season rolls around. Besties Vanessa Hudgens and Shay Mitchell each opted for a perfect mix of black and brights. Shay chose bright yellow skinnies and a neutral top, while Vanessa paired neutral bottoms with a bright top and an edgy leather jacket. Why not mix it up for the best of both worlds? Pair bright yellow skinny jeans with a sheer black top, much like the Pretty Little Liars star, and add a fun leather jacket to take the look to the next level!

Kendall Jenner style

Copy her look here!

The Kardashian’s younger sisters are all grown up — and their style is fabulous! All legs and long hair, Kendall Jenner looked young and fresh in a leather mini and studded black booties. As the leather trend transitions from winter to spring, the peek-a-boo trend emerges. We just love Kendall’s simple gray top with cut-out shoulders, baring a little bit of skin in a classy way. Our version looks much the same, with a much smaller price tag!

Seasonal Transition Piece: The Cropped Sweater

Summer 2012 saw the re-emergence of the crop top, and early 2013 trends are following suit with the cropped sweater. While tunics and long, oversized sweaters have been the go-to style for the past few years, we think the cropped version is a much-needed refresher. Are you tempted to begin styling this “it” sweater into your seasonal garb?

Here are a few tips for pulling off the look the right way, along with notable fashionistas wearing the look for inspiration!

Go Casual

Cropped sweaters come in all shapes and sizes, from fitted to oversized — and even in cardigan form. We love the idea of pairing one with comfy jeans and a fun undershirt in bright colors, prints, or patterns for a casual look, much like See Jane‘s look above. Or, mix and match prints with a gingham button down and striped sweater for a winter-to-spring look. Of course, you should be mindful of your pairings; a loose top is a good match for fitted bottoms, and a fitted top is best for loose bottoms. After all, a fitted top doesn’t exactly create a modest look when paired with skin-tight leggings — eek!

Go Bright

How boho-chic is this look from The Day Book, featuring a long maxi shirt with a basic tee and belted, cropped cardigan. Love! This look adds a fashion-forward spin to the everyday look of a casual sweater. A cropped sweater also presents the perfect opportunity for throwing on some colorful skinnies or a bright cami for a playful touch. Don’t forget to add standout spring accessories like a bubble necklace, jeweled collar, or sweet scarf.

Go Bold

While a bare midriff is hardly appropriate for chilly winter-to-spring weather, we’re all about breaking the rules — sometimes. We recommend this look for a dressier setting, such as a party or night out. If you’re opting for a cropped sweater without an undershirt, consider pairing it with high-waisted bottoms or a skirt, like Diane Kruger’s fab look above. Talk about hitting two trendy birds with one stone: a cropped sweater and black-and-white color combination! And we can’t get over her perfect handbag pairing (we have a look-alike here). Hot, hot, hot!

Tell us, do you dare wear the cropped sweater?
