Nothing says spring like pastels! Pastel handbags are a great way to add some color to your look without going too bright –– we’ll save the neons for summer, right? Not to mention that Radiant Orchid, a lovely light purple hue, is the Color of the Year for 2014 (find a whole collection in that shade here). Start mixing this color into your wardrobe now for a stylish look that’s ahead of the crowd. Go on and pick your favorite color before they sell out!

Itty-bitty mini bags are going by the wayside — and oversized totes are in for this season! Whether you choose a bold color, fun print (like chevron or leopard), or something with embellishments (such as studs), you can never go wrong with this style. Not only are they adorable, but they are large enough to carry all of your necessities … and then some! We “totes” love all of these bags, don’t you?

Seize the Deal! Runway-Inspired Winter Bags

The holidays may be history, but it’s likely there were items left on your wishlist that didn’t get crossed off! You know the ones: The uber-pricey pieces ranging from sunglasses to handbags that you’d die to own (but probably never will).

For those of us on a budget this year, runway-inspired bags are the perfect way to add style to your winter collection without breaking the bank. We’ve got just the bags to make even the most seasoned fashionista do a double-take. Who needs to wait ’til the next big holiday (your birthday, of course!) to be treated to a lovely new handbag, anyway?

Mini & Mighty

Looking for something a little smaller to tote your necessities? A mini satchel is the perfect accessory, adding a fun touch of color and pizzazz without overpowering your look. Worn as a crossbody or shoulder bag, the Audrey Mini Buckle Satchel is adorned with buckle embellishments, houses a variety of versatile pockets, and very closely resembles this Mini Satchel — without the high price. Can’t you just picture it with an oversized sweater, leggings, and riding boots?

Printed & Compact

The Colbie

If winter had an official print, we’re certain it would be houndstooth! Pulling in accents of the fall/winter menswear trend yet again is the Colbie Houndstooth Shoulder Bag, inspired by this Houndstooth Print Clutch. While not exactly a clutch, this faux calf hair bag with red leatherette sides is completed with braided chain straps and a fun striped interior that’ll brighten up any dark and dreary day this winter. This bag is ideal for working girls who find themselves wearing dress attire more often than not, but would also be a perfect bag for special occasions when you need a little pop of print!

Quilted & Colorblocked

The Charlotte

While we all have our everyday bag, we all like those eye-catching bags with unique attributes that have our friends asking, “Where did you get that?” The Charlotte Colorblock Satchel is one of those bags! Inspired by this Flap Satchel, this classy bag sports a quilted top, metal hardware, and colorblocking in a variety of color schemes from black and white to brown and tan. Reminiscent of the menswear trend that is prominent this winter, this bag is definitely a celebrity look-for-less worth investing in!

Leather & Studs

The punk trend reemerged in 2013 and is still going strong today, with attributes ranging from loud prints and colors to distressed accents. But don’t break out your acid-washed jeans just yet. Those of us who aren’t ready to take a walk on the wild side can incorporate this trend through subtle touches such as accessories. The Ella Studded Shoulder Bag, inspired by this Studded Satchel, combines feminine and fierce with metallic studs and a bold, structured shape. It comes in a variety of colors to match your palette this winter — and makes a lovely transition from day to night!

Ready, Set, Runway: Fall & Winter Handbag Trends

This past spring, the runways were abuzz with models sporting the hottest trends anticipated for the Fall/Winter 2013 seasons, and we were not disappointed! While we expected to see the usual military coats, classic riding boots, and fur-lined collars, we were left to “ooh and aah” over metallic embellishments, loud prints and patterns, vintage pieces, and bold, flashy colors. While you may fear stepping outside of your style comfort zone, there are ways to implement these trends through safer means. Case in point — handbags!

Check out these haute new trends and how they translate from your clothes to your arm candy:

Luck Be a Lady

Forget what you think you know about 1940s housewives, and get ready to channel your inner vintage vixen! This classic style calls for colors all over the spectrum, from neutrals to jewel tones and pastels. When shopping for this season’s must-have bag, look for prints such as polka dots and fabrics of herringbone, tweed, velvet, and even fur. Structured satchels are a must for this trend, like the feminine Sophie Structured Satchel and the sweet Eloise.

Grunge, Punk, Rock!

This fun trend is definitely new to the fall and winter scene this year, and it’s perfect for exposing your tough, edgy side –– come on, we know it’s in there somewhere! For the perfectly punk handbag, look for colors such as black, red, and neons; animal prints and faux exotic skins like alligator and snakeskin; leather with fringe accents; and metal accents such as studs, chains, and jewels. The Deirdre Colorblock Satchel has a perfect leather and metal combo, while the Hailey Studded Leopard bag has the animal print, fur, and studded accents to create the edgy look we love oh-so dearly.

Co-Ed Chic

This preppy, nerd-chic look is another exciting trend to take us into the last two seasons of the year! To bring this fresh trend to your fall/winter handbag of choice, think back to your school days and pull in details such as plaid, argyle, and tweed in neutrals and classic autumnal colors such as burgundy, navy, and emerald. The Prep School Tote and the Liam Structured Satchel are two great ways bags bring this trend into your cold-weather closet.

Athletic Aesthetics

While fitted styles have been in for the past few seasons, oversized pieces with boyish shapes, angular lines, and severe structure are the way to go this fall and winter. With obvious menswear and athletic inspiration, this new trend offers a futuristic touch that is fresh and fun. Handbags falling within this trend should have solid, monochromatic colors, such as all black, gray, or cobalt blue. Materials such as leather, suede, tweed, and quilted patterns are also a good match. The Jane Colorblock Bag and Kathleen Quilted Bag are beyond-perfect for pulling off this trend!

Fall Style Preview

Fall fashion brings to mind boots, jackets, and scarves. But just as the weather changes, so do accessory trends — handbags in particular! In this fall style preview, we’re taking a sneak peek at some of our favorite style bloggers’ fall-inspired looks, each complete with a gorgeous handbag.

Take a look at these stylish outfits, and be sure to check out our lookalikes that will make a perfect addition to your handbag collection this season.

Stripes and Studs

This look by Nicholl Vincent is a winner in our book! Her striped military jacket with rolled denim and black strappy wedges is perfectly paired with a studded tote similar to the Carmen Studded Shoulder Bag. This look is ideal for the weekend, and it’s sure to make you a head-turner at dinner or the mall!

Colorblock and Denim

Aren’t you just swooning over this Hello Fashion blogger’s colorblocked jacket? Again, rolled denim takes the stage, this time paired with stilettos and an embellished shoulder bag like the Carrie Studded Clutch. We love the subtle mix of the colors black and mauve and the splash of herringbone on her bag.

Striped Skirt and Black Tee

Cara Loren looks uber stylish in this fall-inspired look. With a striped skirt, oversized tee, tights, and ankle boots, she ties it all together with a polished black bag and metallic accessories. Get this look with a bag like the Amelia Woven Satchel.

Overalls and Heels

This stylista of Atlantic-Pacific is beyond-words fabulous in this look! A striped, three-quarter-sleeve top paired with khaki overalls (again, rolled at the ankle), stilettos, and oversized shades is an out-of-the-box style we should all strive to have. And imagine all of the gear you could pack in this oversized tote! We think the Tindall Stitched Tote is a close match.

Romper and Scarf

For a perfect early-fall look, the blogger behind Lovely Pepa matches a dressy black romper with a natural scarf. With such a neutral canvas, you are free to embellish with fun accessories such as animal-print sandals, cat eye shades, and lots of arm candy. Oh, and don’t forget her patent bag! The Carmela Patent Bag is an affordable lookalike!

Military Lace

Looking for ways to carry over some of your summer pieces to fall? Jessica of What I Wore combines a feminine, cream-colored lace dress (belted) with basic flats and an oversized military jacket. We love her practical shoulder bag, very much like the Oxford Buckle Satchel.

Witchy Women: Accessory Inspiration from the Land of Oz

[Spoiler Alert!]

Always and forever a classic in our eyes, we are thrilled about the release of Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to our favorite childhood movie, The Wizard of Oz. With a superb cast (well hello, James Franco) and mind-blowing special effects, this movie has us excited about more than just the storyline. We’re also compelled by the style of the beautiful leading ladies!

Check out these wickedly (and not-so-wickedly) witch-inspired accessories, and be sure to snag a few of your favorites for spring. Now the only question is: Are you a good witch — or a bad witch?

Glinda

Glinda the Good Witch styleGlinda the Good Witch accessories

Always beautiful, Michelle Williams is ultra-stunning as Glinda the Good Witch! With a palette mostly comprised of silver, gold, and white, we love the feminine sparkles as an update to the original witch’s garb. If this look is for you, opt for items with sequins, glitter, and lace accents. Metallic flats, sparkly headbands, and feminine jewelry are ideal for making you a witchy woman. And don’t you just adore the glittery exterior of this Party Girl Clutch? We think it’s Glinda-approved!

Theodora

Mila Kunis looks delightfully evil as the Wicked Witch of the West! With subtle and seductive touches, we love the fresh take on a western style. To accomplish this look, hunt down accessories in black and red — especially ruby! Floppy hats are perfect for warmer weather, knee-high boots are great for transitioning from winter to spring, and doesn’t this high-waisted belt remind you of a saddle?! Complete the look with an Oz-inspired handbag like this Scarlett Exotic Buckle Satchel.

Evanora

We are completely infatuated with the glitz and glamour of Rachel Weisz’s character as the Wicked Witch of the East! Elegant and completely in style with this season’s emerald shade, this lady-like witch adds wicked wondefulness with black, sparkles, and feathers. This lace cuff bracelet, rose cameo necklace, and feather capelet are perfectly inspired! If she were to carry a purse, we think she would choose something like the Elaine Quilted Bag, don’t you?
